Recuperation and Co-ordination Agency –TRCA- has donated ten printers, ten
monitors, two photo copy machines and ten computers to Gambia’s judiciary to
equip and facilitate their work for the judiciary.
The equipment was handed to Chief Justice Hassan Jallow by the Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia Ismail Yaceer at the High Court in Banjul last Thursday.
Ambassador Yaceer echoed that Turkey has been supporting The Gambia for decades and promised that the support will continue. “In institutionalising democracy, justice has a very important role to play because if you don’t have justice in any society, you cannot have democracy. The judiciary had high responsibility during the transition period to save the people. Our cooperation with The Gambia will be further strengthened.”
Chief Justice Jallow thanked the Turkish government through its Banjul embassy, saying they have addressed one of the biggest constraints. “Democracy cannot work without efficient independent judiciary system. Independence is what we commit ourselves to. We have to work in the efficiency side by providing necessary equipment and facilities to ensure that cases are effectively and efficiently handled.”
