Gambia has intensified qualification efforts for the 2019 Africa U-20 Youth
Championship to be hosted in Niger, as the team continues preparations for the
continent’s bi-annual junior biggest football fiesta qualifiers.
The Young Scorpions are currently training at the FIFA Goal Project in Old Yundum to prepare themselves adequately for the qualifiers.
The Gambia failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa U-20 Youth Championship hosted in Zambia, after losing to Guinea Conakry 2-1 on aggregate in the qualifiers. The draw for the 2019 Africa U-20 Youth Championship is set to take place after the end of the 2018 CHAN competition in Morocco.
Coach Matarr Mboge and his Young Scorpions charges will be expecting an easy draw in order to fancy their chances of qualifying for the continent’s cadet football championship in Niger next year.
