Toubakolong Youth and Sports Development Association super cup final that was
billed to take place on Saturday 30th July was called-off at the eleventh hour
following the demise of Yankuba Jatta, a native of the village.
Niumi Lameng United was due to take on Pakau Saloum FC in the final that is now rescheduled for Saturday 7th July 2018 at the Toubakolong football ground. The committee has given each team one thousand dalasis (D1000) to prepare for the reschedule encounter.
Chairman North Bank Regional Football Association Abou Khan said no one is excepted when it comes to death and therefore thanked the committee for calling off the final. He commended the committee for their continuous strive in trying to promote grass roots football within the district. He extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
Kemo Ceesay, Chairman Toubakolong Youth and Sport Development Association began by appreciating the efforts of all stakeholders. Mr. Ceesay described the late Jatta as talented, an active youth who had immensely contributed to youth development most especially sport.
Bakary Sampa Sonko, Niumi Lameng United head coach described the late Yankuba as a brother who was passionate about youth development. He said they will now prepare for the rescheduled final, and also thanked the committee for their support.
Pa Modou Jobe head coach of Pakau Saloum FC said they would prepare well for next Saturday to play the game in fair play and discipline.
