senior Scorpions team head coach, Tom Saintfiet said playing against Angola in
the World Cup preliminary will be a tough draw, saying they were hoping to play
against the likes of Swatini (formerly Swaziland) or Lesotho.
“If I was satisfied with the draw against Djibouti, I can say that I am not satisfied with the draw against Angola because as a coach, I was hoping not to get Angola but it is a very bad luck for us and knowing fully well that if we win against Djibouti, we will be meeting Angola again, together with Gabon and Congo,” he said.
Coach Saintfiet said they are not lucky in both AFCON and World Cup draws but they will be hoping that luck will be on their side during the matches.
According to him, there are easier opponents during the draws in which they are hoping to meet with, the likes of Swatini (formerly Swaziland) or Lesotho. “Though it is a very tough draw but we will not give-up as we have proven against Algeria, Benin, Morocco and Guinea Bissau to get good result against these kind of opponents. We need the same standard for our preparation and the same standard of our players on the pitch,” he said.
He further stated that if they beat Angola, they will be making an impressive statement about their quality, saying although Angola is a very tough opponent but they will be confident and well prepared both in travelling and in other areas.
