Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in The Gambia last Friday donated
food packages to 200 Gambian households through The Gambia Supreme Islamic
Council (GSIC) in observation of the Muslim month of Ramadan.
Oustass Cherno Darboe said there exists a strong relationship between Supreme Islamic Council and the Republic of Turkey for a long time, saying they are grateful and delighted for the support TIKA provides to Gambians.
Turkish Ambassador Ismail Sefa Yuceer said the importance of religion is solidarity and cooperation, saying Turkey always have the pleasure of helping needy Gambians, especially in the month of Ramadan which, he said is a month of peace and solidarity.
Sheriff Bajan, first vice president of GSIC said the TIKA generosity includes 30 bags of sugar, 30 cartons of dates and 200 bags of rice which, he said will be distributed to needy Gambians.
Mehmet Tkit Eyigun, director of TIKA said they are a development agency that provide support to needy people in many countries. “TIKA believes in cooperation which is why we extend a helping hand to the Council for onward distribution to needy families during the holy month of Ramadan.”
