Three NIA suspects seek High Court bail

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Three suspects; Quassy Mendy, Leon Gomez and Bakary Jammeh yesterday, 14th of May, 2018, appeared before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh at the High Court in Banjul seeking the said court bail.

Three suspects are among eight suspects arraigned recently before Justice Sainabou Wadda Cisse of the High Court in Banjul, indicted on two counts of conspiracy to murder and accessory after the fact contrary to Sections 204 and 202 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01, Volume 3, laws of The Gambia, 2009.

During yesterday’s sittings, the court observed that lawyers from the Attorney General’s Chambers were not present and the presiding judge informed the court that notices were sent to the chambers notifying them that the matter was slated for yesterday.

The judge disclosed that the State did not file any process before the court as to whether it was opposing the bail or otherwise.

He, however, urged the State law office to file their processes before the next adjourned date so that the fate of the suspects could be decided.

The matter was, however, adjourned to the 21st May, 2018.
