Pub FC has defeated FC Bax 3-1 on penalties after their 1-1 draw in the regular
time in the semifinal match played at Gunjur Nyamina Football field on Sunday
to set Gunjur Knock-out final clash against Blaness FC.
FC Bax eliminated the Sifoe-based football team in the league after losing to the Gunjur-based football team 1-0 in the semifinal before their knockout semifinal encounter over the weekend.
The Pub contained FC Bax after losing to them in the league semifinal. The Gunjur-based football team made a stunning start to the game and created some spectacular goal scoring opportunities.
FC Bax opened the scores through teenager Bakary Touray, alias Nfabu in the first half from a brilliant strike to give the Gunjur-based the lead. They fought hard for an equalizer and created some goal scoring opportunities but failed to utilise on their limited goal scoring opportunities.
The Gunjur-based football club went to the break with a one nil advantage.
Upon resumption of the game, The Pub FC introduced several fresh legs to bolster their attack and dominated the ball possession.
Prolific striker Omar Nyassi leveled matters for The Pub FC mid-way into the second half to cancel youngster Bakary Touray, alias Nfabu’s first half opener.
This pushed the game into a post-match shoot-out, which ended 3-1 in favour of The Pub FC.
The Pub FC will now play against Blaness FC who also beat Reliance Financial Services FC 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in the forthcoming Gunjur Knock-out final.
