Point Newspaper Sunday booked their place to the final of the ongoing
inter-media football tournament after defeating Foroyaa Newspaper 4-0 in the
semifinal game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The tournament was organised by The Gambia Press Union (GPU) in partnership with Sports Journalists of The Gambia (SJAG).
Assan Ndoye opened the scores for the inform The Point in the 15th minute of the first half, just before Essa Fadera added the advantage in the 25th minute just before going into the break.
The Point Newspaper goal poacher, Biram Gaye put his name in the score-sheet immediately after the break through a stunning finish in the 50th minute, while Edrissa Jallow made it a convincing win after extending the lead in the 60th minute to send the pen pushers into the final of the GPU-SJAG media tournament.
Foroyaa Newspaper, who came into the game with the hope of making it to the final, created little chances but failed to convert any of them into The Point’s net.
The Churchills Town-based Newspaper team, who are being described as the most discipline team in the tournament promised to work on their loopholes for the next edition.
