2019 TAKE-M Transformation Organisation spelling bee has kicked-off on Saturday
at the B.O Semega Janneh hall in Tallinding, with fifteen students within the
Kanifing Municipality securing a spot in the national spelling championship.
The organisation promotes the importance of education, reading and comprehension. It also promote writing and spelling by organising annual spelling bee competitions for students across the country.
The Kanifing Municipality competition was graced by education officers, teachers, parents, cluster monitors, students and family members of the spellers.
Guest speaker Santigie Muhamed Kandeh, Director of Da Vinci and Yankanu School encouraged the competitors not to be afraid of failure, telling them that every successful person has once failed. He also urged them to pave the way for future spellers.
He commended organisers of the spelling bee, saying it is something that The Gambia need in its education system, as learning do not only stop within the four corners of the classroom.
Malang Kuyateh, senior education officer responsible for quality at Region 2 highlighted that achieving quality education requires multi-dimensional approach. He called on students to take up the culture of reading to be able to speak and write well. “I am challenging parents to prepare their children for the future.”
Tunde Muyi Ogundimu, chief executive officer of TAKE-M Transformation Organisation observed that it must be everyone’s priority to support Gambia’s education sector.
Cluster monitor Omar Nyass thanked the organisation for always organising the annual event.
