Youth Tesito Association (SYTA) - a youth-led community-based organisation in
Sanyang village, over the weekend conducted a day road cleaning exercise in the
village on the theme: protect the road, save lives.
Over 30 young people from different groups within the community participated in the exercise, which also witnessed the presentation of 10, 000 dalasi to the Association by Unity Sand Mining Company.
A former executive member of the Association who is now the Assistant Secretary of the Village Development Committee, Yusupha Jassey reminded the youth to remain vigilant towards nation building.
He said the Association have registered series of improvement in the area of community development, telling the youth that as young people, the development of their communities and the country should be their primary focus. “There are many development structures that we are witnessing here today which are entirely shouldered by this Association,” he said.
Former Chairman of the Association Botto Bojang complemented the efforts of the Association in ensuring that lives and properties are save along the roads.
He further counselled them to be serious on their education, saying that will no doubt permit them to have better future and to positively participate in the development of their community. “The founders of the Association have achieved lot of progress in terms of community development. So it is now your time to continue on the history,” he said.
Chairman of the Association Momodou Bah thanked the participants for their hard work in making the day a success, stating that the Association will not only stop at road safety but will also embark on other meaningful community works. “We are very thankful to those who participate in this service to make our roads safe for both human and traffic.”
