Sunday: Reliance to brawl with Red Star for Gunjur Super Cup crown

The 2016 league champions Reliance Financial Services FC will fight with knockout champions Red Star Family FC in the 2017 Gunjur Super Cup title on 10 September 2017, at the Gunjur Nyamina football field.

The cash dealers beat Red Star Family FC 3-1 on penalties, after their 1-1 draw in the regulation time in the final to lift the 2016 Gunjur league title.

Fabakary Touray alias Maxi opened the scores for Reliance Financial Services FC, after the interval from a penalty spot after striker Alasanna Marong was brought down inside the area to give the cash dealers the lead.

Red Star Family FC responded and levelled matters through substitute midfielder Mbemba Fatty alias Andrea Iniesta in the dying minutes from the penalty spot. Right-back Sulayman Darboe alias Fasulay was brought down inside the penalty-creation zone by left-back Yusupha Touray alias Esso.

Reliance Financial Services FC hope to replicate their 2016 performance to beat Red Star Family FC to claim the Super Cup title.

Red Star Family FC are determined for a revenge to lift the Super Cup title after losing to Reliance Financial Services FC on penalties in the 2016 Gunjur league final.

Meanwhile, in the 2017 Gunjur nawetan, defending league champions Reliance Financial Services FC beat Gam Rock FC 2-1 in their opening group A fixtures at the 3pm kickoff on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, debutants De Pub FC defeated FC Halifax Town 1-0 in the other opening group A encounter at the 5pm kickoff on the same day.
