participants, Baboucarr Janko, a native of Sukuta is making waves in Tye and
Dye industry in The Gambia.
As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Janko’s Creation, he ventured into batiks and tye and dye by making bed sheets, curtains, attires for both male and female, T-shirts.
During the course of the ELIT, he demonstrated outstanding performance which prevailed him to emerge among the 5 best selected participants awarded cash prize of D10, 000 to support their businesses.
These award prizes were funded by the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP).
He sells his materials on down payment and also gave it out on credit basis to attract more customers.
In addition, he prepares bulk quantity of materials depending on the contract orders by his customers.
Janko started his creation since his junior school days to date and he is currently enrolled at the University of The Gambia majoring in Management and Minoring in Economics.
He stated that earn his survival through tye and dye business, adding that he expecting to extend his business in the near future.
Janko appealed the government, the private sector, donors, philanthropists, NGOs and companies to youth in order to improve their living conditions.
He said supporting youth will prevent them from engaging into social vices and will focus on our to development themselves to become better future leaders tomorrow.
‘‘Youth play significant role in the development of any nation and they need support to contribute their quota to the national development’’, he revealed.
