Student clamours for educational assistance

Feb 4, 2010, 3:08 PM | Article By: Manlafie Badjie

A female student who had scored distinction in her Senior Secondary School examinations seeks assistance to pursue university education.

Awa Kanteh, a past pupil of Farafenni Senior Secondary has expressed willingness to further her education.

Awa Kanteh says "I got a very good result under adverse conditions while at Farafenni. I got nine credits in English Language, Mathematics, General Science, Commerce, Economics, Financial Accounting, Geography, with A1 in Wood Work and A1 in Islamic Studies. With these good results, I have found no headway to further my studies. I am selling oranges to make some money to go to the university. It is not an easy thing, so I would love to be sponsored to go to overseas or UTG," she said.

Miss Kanteh said she lost her parents a long time ago, but Ousman Joof, her stepfather had helped her to do her secondary education.

According to her, Joof had done a lot for her but he is now constrained to come to their aid.

"I can take any offer to study be it in The Gambia or overseas. I just need a total help," she concluded.
