Gambian prolific striker, Ebrahima ‘Ibou’ Sawaneh has his deal with the Union Titus Pétange expired.

The 32-year-old, who has a double nationality Gambian-German, left Belgium second-tier side AFC Tubize to open a deal with Luxembourg top-tier side Union Titus Pétange in February, as a free agent.

Many had viewed Sawaneh’s move to Pétange as a bid to revive his career which has stalled since last April, but Union Titus Pétange has acquired the forward’s move services to help them stay put. It looks their free signing brought more than they bargained for after scoring seven goals in twelve games.

The striker’s season with the Belgian second-tier side AFC Tubize was like a nightmare after been hampered by  series of injuries, which kept him on the sideline for several months.

Sawaneh, who was once a most sought-after talent in 2012, attracting interest from top European clubs such as St Etienne, Bayer Leverkusen and other top European clubs, after scoring 19 goals in a single season and finishing the second top scorer in 2013.
