Stop killing each other!

africa » gambia
Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Africa's  overall development would be very difficult if we continue to kill each other just like what is happening in Nigeria.

Nigeria must prosecute those behind a weekend massacre and address underlying issues of poverty and discrimination if it is to end a cycle of violence in the zone between its Muslim north and Christian south, rights groups and diplomats said.

We therefore urged the authorities to ensure those responsible face justice after  Sunday's clashes between Christians and Muslims.

So far several people were claimed dead mostly women and children a raids that many observed is in apparent retaliation for four days of violence around Jos, the capital of Plateau state, in January which killed several hundred people, many of them in an attack on the mostly Muslim settlement of Kuru Karama.

Our emphasis here is that as Africans, brothers and sisters and more importantly equal citizens and faithful why should we kill each other.

How can we development our continent when we keep on kill each other unessary while others are working to develop their continents.

The most precious resources of any country is the human resource so if such a resources is perishing due to our own attitude it's an unfortunate incident.

Why should we kill each other in the name of region? Instead of us saying our prayers properly to have heaven we opt for wars and unnecessary killings. To us this is a shame and embarrassing to all Africans.

The Nigerain government is encourage to make concerted effort to tackle the underlying causes of the repeated outbreaks of ethnic and religious violence which Nigeria has witnessed in recent years.

The massacre of at least 200 people should not die like that but rather ensure justice is done.

We urged the political and religious leaders in Nigeria to find a permanent solution to the crisis in Jos to avoid reoccurance of this kind of problems.

Plateau state we understand lies at the crossroads of Nigeria's Muslim north and Christian south but nonetheless as Muslims and Christians we must learn to live together harmoniously.

People have to be tolerance and stop inhuman behaviours like killing. Once more we call on the Nigerian government to make sure all those who has a hand in all these killings face the full force of the law.

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
