international Bubacarr ‘Steve’ Trawally put aside his Scorpions disappointment
to hammer in his 10th goal of the season in Guizhou Zhicheng’s 1-1 home draw
with Beijing Renhe on Sunday.
The 23-year-old striker whose omission became a surprise in The Gambia coach Tom Saintfiet’s squad as he prepares to face Algeria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on September 8, gave his side the lead in the 17th minute just before visiting team Beijing Renhe leveled in the 71st minute of the second half.
But Guizhou Zhicheng FC, who were reduced to 10 men when Fan Yunlong received his second yellow card just after the hour mark, made the Gambian’s effort count for nothing as the visitors took advantage with an equalizer twenty minutes from time.
The Scorpions Belgian coach said that the former Yanbian Funde forward has failed to find the back of the net in five matches for The Gambia, adding that both Lamin Jallow and Assan Ceesay are performing better then Steve when compared.
But brushing off Saintfiet’s comments, Steve as fondly called, guided his basement Chinese Super League club Guizhou to pick up another point in their battle to claw back the deficit between themselves and the teams above them at home to in-form Beijing Renhe.
Steve Trawally netted his third goal in four games taking his goal tally to 10 for the season in 21 matches.
