Monday, May 11, 2009

Alasan Camara scored a brace in Biko's impressive 3-1 victory over bitter rivals Wallidan in the week eighteen fixtures of the ongoing GFA 1st division league championship at the Brikama Mini-stadium on Saturday.

Biko's first goal came in the 7th minute of the game when the U-17 striker Alasan Camara capitalised on a defensive blunder to smash home his side's opener but the Blue boys cancelled the lead, courtesy of striker Sainey Touray's 22nd minute strike to put Wallidan back into the game.

But things did not go down well for the defending champions when Biko doubled their advantage, courtesy of former Sk Lierse star striker Assan Jatta in the 52th minute of a titanic encounter.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Abdoulie Bojang the head coach Steve Biko commended Wallidan for what he described as a respectable performance by the double champions noting that Wallidan is never an easy opponent to beat.

Abdoulie Bojang himself a former Steve Biko midfielder further emphasised the need for his srikers to always capitalise on their scoring chances in order to finish the season with a respectable position. For his part, Abdoulie Jatta who played an instrumental part in Biko's win against Wallidan thanked his team mates for their impressive performance noting that they deserved the victory.

He further added that Biko was a team that is capable of beating any team in the league.

Abdoulie Jatta also added that he would fight hard in order to give his best for the team who have brought the best out of the young prodigy. Brikama United lost to Africell 1-0.
