Steve Biko eyes 1st Division return

Steve Biko is eyeing for a Division One league return after their shock demotion to the second tier last season following their dismal performance in the top flight.

The Bakau giant killers will begin their 2018-2019 Second Division league campaign against Immigration on Thursday 15 November at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. They will challenge to win their games to regain promotion to the First Division next season after their relegation to the Second Division last season.

As part of the opening matches, Bombada will host Young Africans at the Brikama Mini Stadium. The Brikama-based club was also relegated to the second tier after their dismal displayed in the top flight last season. They will race to win their matches to return to the First Division next season.

Banjul-based Young Africans maintained themselves in the Second Division after finishing above the relegation zone in the second tier last season.

Infantry Battalion will play against Sporting Real at the Soma Mini Stadium. The Soldiers and Banjul-based club both gained promotions to the Second Division after lifting their respective regional Third Division league titles last season.

Latrikunda United will welcome Lions of Banjul at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium. Friday 16 November, newly-promoted side Kiang West will clash with Red Hawks at the Soma Mini Stadium. The Kiang boys were promoted to the Second Division after clinching Lower River Regional Third Division league crown last season.

The Young Devils missed promotion berth to the top flight after finishing sixth in the second tier last season.

Newly-promoted side Team Rhino will rub shoulders with Gunjur United at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium. Waa Banjul will battle it out with Brufut United at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium.

Jambanjelly United will lock horns with Serrekunda East Bi at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.
