GSM Company has opened Farafenni Army barrack mosque that they renovated as
part of their contribution to national development. The opening of the Mosque
was done with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.

K.F. Dampha, Governor of North Bank Region thanked Star GSM for renovating the
mosque, saying it is a good opportunity to build public-private sector
partnership.
Commander
of Gambia Army Mamat O. Cham said in the new dispensation, The Gambia Army want
to encourage civil-military relationship. “This is what a good citizen should
do because the Army is a national institution which belongs to every citizen.”
Star
GSM managing director Lamin Kaba said his company is always ready to contribute
to national development particularly in the area of security. “We wanted to
paint the Commander’s office too but he came to realize that is better we paint
the mosque. They wanted to renovate the mosque since 2002 but could not
materialise.”

Col Amadou Bojang, Commander of the barrack said Star GSM Company’s move is an
encouragement to all of them to increase their contribution to national
security and development.
Supreme
Islamic Council president Alhagie Mamadou Lamin Touray said only Allah can pay
the company for the gesture and the good work they are doing in the country,
saying that Allah will reward whoever promotes Islam.
