Goods for Gambia, a charitable foundation, Monday donated medical equipment and
supplies to Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow Foundation; a foundation of President
Allan Ves, one of the founders of St. Goods for Gambia Foundation said they donated the equipment to the First Lady’s foundation because it shares the same philosophy with their foundation, saying medical care is important to both foundations.
The donated materials include infusion materials, diabetics machines, wheel chairs, blood testing materials, blood tubes and bed sheets.
Allan said he is hopeful that the donated materials will be helpful to the First Lady’s foundation in bringing medical care to Gambians. “We have supported many Gambian health facilities with medical equipment and supplies to provide good medical care.”
Chairman of the foundation Morr Touray said in 2016, they delivered a complete operating room with medical supplies and wheelchairs to Serrekunda Hospital which enabled the hospital to increase the number of people it conduct operation on every day. “In 2017, we donated lots of medical equipment and supplies to Brikama and Sukuta hospitals” he said.
Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, chief medical director of Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital thanked the donors for their kind gesture, saying the equipment will be very useful.
He commended the donors for their assistance and appealed to other philanthropists, charitable organisations and individuals to emulate the UAE’s humanitarian gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Layen Mbye of Nyangen and Ebrima Jallow of Sankulay Kunda both commended the donors for their humanitarian support.
