School Sports Association (SSSA) president Ismaila Ceesay has warned
Inter-School championship participants that if any of them is found wanting of
age cheating in this year’s championship will be deal with according to the
laws of the games.
During a media briefing yesterday, ahead of this year’s championship which will be staged from 8th February to 17th March, Mr. Ceesay said his Association will not entertain any form of cheating in their most-talked about Inter-school championship.
He explained their level of preparation ahead of the regional athletics heats which will kick-off on February 8, in Farafenni and the grand final billed for March, 2019. “We will not tolerate any school found in age cheating and we will even expose the victims before the media,” he said.
He said their preparation is in high gear for the successful staging of the championship, noting that they will be starting the championship in Farafenni. “Both LRR and NBR schools will be converging in Farafenni from February to February 10 and we are expecting about 50 schools from both regions, ranging from Upper Basic, Basic Cycle and Senior Secondary to converge in Farafenni for the championship,” he said.
Mr. Ceesay added that in Basse, they will be expecting about 45 schools to participate in the championship, while 60 schools or more have currently confirmed their participation in the Greater Banjul Area.
According to him, two qualifiers from each event in the regions will be participating in the final, adding that the championship aimed to create platform for students to showcase their talents.
Assistant secretary general Alasan Sey said ticketing for the championships are D20, D25, D30 and D50.
