International midfielder Ebrima Sohna’s side Kesla FC is through to the finals
of the Azerbaijan Cup after they played a 1-1 draw against Sumqayit FC last
Wednesday. Sohna, 29 played the full 90 minutes of the match to help his side
reach the final.
The first leg took place on April 12 when Kesla won the tie 1-0 courtesy of Meza Colli’s 92nd winner before heading to the return leg six days later. Sumqayit could not stop Kesla from scoring in their own backyard.
In the first leg, Meza Colli scored in the 61 minute before Imamverdiyev’s 64th minute goal gave them hope but inadequate to secure the all-important victory. They were made to pay the price as the final result ended 1-1 inside Sumqayit.
Kelsa proceeded to the final over the two legs as they won 2-1 aggregate. They are set to play in the finals of the Azerbaijan Cup against Gabala on May 28.
