African Orphans (SAO) founded by Njemeh Bah (Lady) who is also the CEO, is a
nonprofit charitable organization registered in the united states, helping
young orphans and under privilege families in Africa.
On March 4, 2018, SAO donated food items consist of 10 bags of rice, 10 mattresses, 5 bags of onions, 5 bags of potatoes to an orphan boarding institute namely Fatima Bintu Rasulilah school for girls in Farafenni The Gambia who are victims of a fire disaster which practically lead to a mass damage of almost everything they have, including the building the children were sheltered in, food, mattress, books among other valuable items.
In receiving the items owner and founder of the institution Matida, expressed her appreciation to SAO and the founder, stating that the donated items came at the right time “We sheltered a total of 45 children but after the fire disaster we had to temporally send home some of the children to their close families and maintained only 25 children because feeding became a big part of our problem. The institution has been sheltering and educating these young girls for free due to their various life situations”. She added, that since the fire outbreak they have been relying on neighbors and help of other individuals and groups for feeding and her two adult sons who are serving as teachers to this children at no cost. “We have no casualties but our main constraint was & still is the water shortage, sometimes we go for three days without water and on the day of the fire outbreak there was no water however, we had two filled barrels we usually use a backup water but even that was not enough to put out the fire while we panicky wait on the arrival of the fire service” she lamented.
Njemeh Bah (Lady) Founder of SAO in her statement said, SAO is a newly founded nonprofit organization aimed at helping the young orphans and families in need. She called on all donors and sponsors to come forward and give supporting hand to the advancement of the organization for it to be able to fulfil its desired mission in providing better life & hope for the under privilege. She added “at SAO we envision a world in which every child and woman attains the right to survival, protection, development and empowerment. On behalf of myself and my assistant Sisay Touray, I wish to thank all our individual donors for the support and most specially to Babucarr Ngum a Farafenni resident who voluntarily accepted to present the donation on behalf of SAO”.
