The tournament was organised and funded by SLA. During the ceremony, winners and other deserving personalities were presented with gold and silver medals and a cash prize of D10, 000 and D5, 000 for the winner and runner-up respectively.
The National Assembly Member of Sabach Sanjal constituency also presented decorated trophies.
Momodou Sabally, founder of SLA said he established the academy to train, empower, inspire and motivate young people.
He said he does not want the youth to just play the tournament and go but he also wants youth empowerment training component to be attached as he is in the services of helping young people in different sectors for greater achievements of the country.
During the final, the academy conducted youth development seminar in Ngain Sanjal that attracted more than 80 youth of the community where Mr. Sabally donated some books he authored. Young people were trained on matters of self-actualisation and team building for international development.
Ousman Touray, National Assembly Member of Sabach Sanjal constituency believes that with the help of Momodou Sabally, his constituency will benefit in sport and other youths activities.
“The tournament was organised to help the youth of Sabach Sanjal to showcase their talents in sports because the youth are left behind in sport. “I am appealing to Gambia Football Federation (GFF) to help this constituency as Momodou Sabally is doing.”
He said Sabach Sanjal was divided into two because of politics but with the help of Momodou Sabally, who sponsored the tournament, they are now together as one.
Touray thanked Mr. Sabally for reconciling the youth and bringing unity and harmony to his constituency and assured him that his constituency is ready to answer his call at any rime.
