their mission to help needy Gambians during the month of Ramadan, Sadaqatul
Jariya Foundation, Tuesday donated 23 bags of rice, onion and gallons of oil
among other cooking ingredients to communities.
The Foundation was launched last year to give back to communities by helping them establish their own businesses to become self-sufficient and provide sustainable income for them.
Founder Isatou Sarr-Ceesay thanked those who put their resources to make the donation possible both in The Gambia and in the diaspora, saying without their genuine financial and moral support, their projects will have failed. “By the will of Allah, this will be done annually,” she said.
Mrs. Sarr-Ceesay called on Gambians to engage in giving humanitarian support, saying there are many families and individuals who will be struggling daily to make ends meet.
President of the Foundation Rohey John thanked the donors for their magnanimity and commended those who were identified to benefit from this year’s Ramadan food distribution package project.
She said this is not the first time the Foundation is embarking on such humanitarian gesture, saying although they are a relative young Foundation but its consistency and sense of purpose has made it to touch the lives of many Gambians within a short span.
The Foundation’s accountant Sirreh Jammeh said Ramadan is a month of forgiveness and salvation and since some families live from hand to mouth, it is incumbent on every genuine Gambian who is financially stable, to extend helping hand to those who cannot afford it and make their Ramadan a memorable one.
