Sifoe receives Danish riders

Danish Riders, who spent more than four months on their journey biking to The Gambia, were on Friday received by the people of Sifoe village in Kombo South, West Coast Region.

The riders, who rode bicycles from Denmark to The Gambia, were welcomed by the community and their host, Young People without Border.The aim of the ride is to raise funds to support a skills centre in Sifoe.

The chairman and president of Young People without Border, Kalifa Kanteh, said the ride started in Denmark in mid-August 2015 and finished in Sifoe on Wednesday (23 December) a day Muslims across The Gambia were celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

He hailed the Inspector General of Police for providing the riders with police to escort them from Brikama to Sifoe.

Ebrima Jallow, the chairman of Sifoe village development committee, expressed appreciation for receiving the riders from Denmark.

For his part, Suna, a rider, said they spent 128 days on the journey and faced lots of challenges such as rain, mountains, and windy days.

Suna expressed appreciation to the people of Sifoe for their warm welcome and hospitality.
