africa » gambia
Friday, January 16, 2009
Inter house competition is an annual event staged by schools across the country to identify outstanding athletes that will take part in the national inter schools championship.

This event is an avenue for the promotion of talent and scouting of athletes for national purposes.

In this regard, SifoeSeniorSecondarySifoeSchool is getting set to hold this year's edition billed for Saturday 17th January 2009 at the school's football field in Sifoe.

The championship will attract athletes in both the male and female categories.

Speaking to Pointsports, the sports master of Sifoe Senior Secondary School, Mr. Sheriffo Sanneh, said they are organising inter house in order to select good athletes that will represent the school in the forth coming inter schools athletics championship organised by The Gambia Secondary Schools Sports Committee to promote the spirit of athleticism in the country.

He further revealed that athletics is one of the leading games in the world behind Basketball and football and then advised upcoming athletes to take their work seriously. "There are so many opportunities for them like scholarships to further their education," he cited.

Sanneh also appealed to all students to maintain discipline during the event.
