Seven pupils at the PL George Nursery School in Bakau New Town were last Thursday awarded scholarships by a philanthropist based in the United States of America.

The scholarship is for a period of one year covering tuition fees at PL George Nursery School.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the school ground, Muhammed Musa, headmaster of PL George Nursery School, said the seven children attending PL George Nursery School and their parents are all happy for receiving the scholarship.

He said the scholarship was a big move and a relief to parents, saying that education goes with money.

He said most of the parents want their children to learn but due to financial constraints, they could not, adding that sponsoring seven children from the school was a big relief.

He stressed that the children want to learn and their parents also want them to learn but they find it very difficult to afford the finance to pay for their children.

The parents of sponsored children thanked the sponsors for the intervention during a very difficult period.
