Senegalese diplomat ends Gambia duty tour

Tuesday, July 30, 2019

Saliou Ndiaye, the Senegalese High Commissioner to The Gambia and dean of the diplomatic corps has ended his five years mission in The Gambia, an official source has confirmed to The Point.

Our source who is familiar with the development told The Point that Professor Ndiaye has been replaced by Bassirou Sene, former Senegalese ambassador to France.

Mr. Ndiaye arrived in The Gambia in 2014. During his tenure in the country, the Senegalese diplomat did his best to reinforce the already existing cordial relationship between The Gambia and Senegal.

During the 2017 political impasse, Professor Ndiaye played a crucial role for his country and members of ECOWAS to ensure peace and stability in The Gambia and for the former President Yahya Jammeh to step-down peacefully.
