Senegalese authorities release Sare Jawbeh boy

Jakariya Mballow, the boy from Sare Jawbeh village is reported to have been released after taken to custody by the Senegalese authorities

The Point has been informed that Mballow was taken to custody on Monday Feb. 26, 2018, and was detained at Madina Yerro Fula in the southern region of Casamance following a clash between the youths of Sare Jawbeh village of Jimara District and the Senegalese forestry officers.

The clashed resulted to the injury of Abdouraman Baldeh and Ebrima Baldeh - both from Sare Jawbeh. Our source revealed that Mr. Bojang an immigration officers was also injured.

The youths of the village were able to manage and arrest Seydou Balde, Cheikh Mane and Babacar Diakhate, both Senegalese while the fourth person, Abdurrahman Balde, ran away. The Senegalese forestry officers were later handed over to the Bakadagi Police who transferred their case to Basse Police Station.

Following their arrest, the Senegalese forestry officers were released after a team from the Police Headquarter in Banjul negotiated for their release.
