Senegal wins Senegambia marathon run

Senegalese athletic club has won the first edition of the three-day Senegambia Marathon for Integration after finishing first position.

The competition which lasted for a period of three days, kicked-start at the Trans-Gambia bridge through Farafenni and ended in Senegalese capital, Dakar.

ASFA were the single Senegalese outfit while the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), West Coast Region (WCR), Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB), Gambia Police Force and Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) each represented The Gambia. a

The race started in Farafenni with a 92km to Kaolack for the first-leg before a 110km race the following day in Mbour with a further 97km at Dakar to end the show. Gambia Armed Force and Gambia Police Force came second and third and WCR finished fourth.

Kanifing Municipality and Gambia Tourism Board took fifth and sixth places while Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) finished seventh.

ASFA were decorated with a giant trophy as winners while GAF and GPF each went home with trophies as second and third finishers.

Authorities of both states to the championship demonstrated the long standing relations between Banjul and Dakar, observing that organising such activity will go a long way in cementing the cordial relations between them.
