Senegal thumps Gambia in int’l friendly

Senegal CHAN team, Wednesday defeated Gambia 2-0 in an international friendly played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The friendly football match was part of both countries preparation ahead of West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament slated for September 20 to October 12 in Thies, Senegal.

Abdoulie Ba put Senegal in front after 19 minutes before Djibril Guieye doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 20th minute thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Senegal.

Speaking to reporters after his side defeat to Senegal, Coach Omar Sise said the game was part of their preparation for the upcoming WAFU tournament, adding that they conceded two goals in the first half due to mistakes.

 Senegal coach Serigne Salieu Mbacke Senghor said the result is very important for him, saying that he test some of his players during their matches with The Gambia.
