Seminar for journalists and media professionals opens in China

A seven-day seminar for journalists and media professionals of African Union organised by Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China on Monday July 9, 2018, commenced at Fu Run Ge Hotel, Qingdao, China.

From 2012 to date, Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College has successfully organised over 90 foreign aid training courses for 2075 participants from 106 countries. The seminar, which brought together 25 participants from various African countries, would accord participants the opportunity to interact, theoretical courses, meet officials of local governments as well as field visits.

At the opening ceremony, Gao Cheng, Vice President of Shangong Foreign Trade Vocational College, said China has always emphasis its friendship with developing countries and pays attention on the development of these countries, saying although China and African countries are far apart, the friendship has a long history.

“The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing friendship and cooperative relations with African countries”, he stated.

Melckzedeck Magoke, deputy director of African Union Commission began by expressing gratitude and appreciation to sponsors and orgsanisers of the seminar.

The seminar, he added, would give participants the opportunity to better understand China’s progress in the integrated development of medias as well as provide them a good platform for the exchange of experience.

“China has always been an important and strategic partner of the African Union and African countries”, he admitted.

Mr. Magoke also said that they look forward to gaining more experience and also understanding more China’s development in the media profession.

The knowledge gained from the seminar, he said will be very useful to the African Union and respective countries of participants.
