He was taken to court immediately, our source said. “The context of the case is that judgment was entered against Sedia Bayo in favour of Coco Ocean Hotel for unpaid hotel bills incurred by Sedia and his entourage of protocol and security,” said one person who was briefed over the matter and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
“Sedia absconded but surreptitiously reentered the country about 10 days ago and was moving from hotel to hotel on a daily basis. An absconding debtor’s warrant was filed by Coco Ocean Hotel which led to Sedia’s arrest,” our source added.
Upon Sedia’s arrest, he was dragged to court where he was examined about his ability to pay the amount charged.
At the hearing of the judgment, debtors summoned Sedia, who disclosed that he did not have a property of his own and lives at his wife’s apartment. He also informed the court that he has a car rental company in France. He further told the court that he was advised by the government of the Gambia to stop bringing bodyguards to Gambia because he was secured in the country.
He also disclosed that he used to lie to frighten Yaya Jammeh and said he has a political organisation but that he is not a politician.
