United States major league soccer club Seattle Sounders has secured the signing of Gambian defender Modou Ndow on loan from Czech Republic third-tier club MFK Vyškov.

The 18-year-old who joined the Czech side on New Year’s Day from Gambian giants, Wallidan, will stay with the second-tier American club until November 2019.

Ndow, a WAFU U20 champion immediately joined Sounders 2, will begin their 2019 campaign with a home match on March 9 at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma before hosting Rio Grande Valley FC in the home opener, with the kickoff time to be announced on a later date.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Modou to Seattle. He is a product of our strong African scouting pipeline and we’re excited about what he can bring to our club,” Sounders FC director of player development Marc Nicholls said on the club’s official website.

Gambia Sports revealed that the versatile center-back becomes the third Gambian to sign for the Sounders after Sainey Nyassi and Amadou ‘Baresi’ Sanyang.
