Seaport Customs Manager bags “Patriotic Personality Award”

Nigeria-based advocacy group; League of African Development Students (LEADS) have decorated Gambia Revenue Authority’s manager in-charge of Seaport Custom Operations, Alhagie K. Mbye with an award of Patriotic Personality Award, 2019.

The award was presented to Mr. Mbye in his office in Banjul, attended by seaport staff and LEADS delegation.

The group’s head of advocacy Ochekwu Morgan said LEADS is the umbrella body of all democratic student Unions in Africa. He said the group was founded in 1985 at the Bayero University, Kano with the objective of sensitising members on best practices in development.

He said they are now present in over 10 African countries, seeking to find role models, outstanding institutions and mentors as they found at the operations office of the Banjul Seaport which led to the awarding of Mr. Mbye.

He said Mr. Mbye is an erudite and proven authority in African civil service space and a committed customs officer.

Ansumana B. Bojang, secretary General of All Africa Students Union said the award is in recognition of Mr. Mbye’s selfless service to the nation. “Mr. Mbye was a selfless student who has gone beyond student-teacher relationship with all his commitment and busy schedules. He managed to graduate with an excellence result due to his positive attitude and behavior.”

Mr. Mbye thanked LEADS for the award and said it was always part of his dream to support students of the University of The Gambia (UTG); considering the trauma they were undergoing.
