The Smiling Coast Tours, last Saturday awarded a certificate of participation to the Point Newspaper, following a one-day successful lecture for journalists from both print and electronic media on the ethics of journalism.

Organised by the Smiling Coast Tours, the lecture took place at West Coast Radio Multi-purpose Hall in Manjai-kunda.

The award, according to the organisers, was meant to cement the cordial relationship between the Gambian media and Smiling Coast Tours based in Murray State University in the United Stated of America.

The one-day lecture was co-ordinated by Dr. Debbie A. Owens, Associate Professor in Journalism & Mass Communications at the Department of Murray State University in the United State of America and her Gambian counterpart, Pa Lamin Sarr, the Founder and CEO of the Smiling Coast Tours.

Among the issues discussed, was how can one become a professional in the area of journalism, and how to avoid certain problems that journalists face in due execution of their duties.

Mr. Bakary Samateh, a Senior Reporter with the Point Newspaper, who received the certificate on behalf of the paper, expressed delight at the gesture.
