Scorpions praise fans, vow to produce positive results

 Gambia’s senior Scorpion players have praised their fans for taking over the Independence Stadium on Friday to cheer them up in their game against the Wild Beasts of Central African Republic and promised to produce more positive results in the subsequent games.

They appealed to fans to maintain patience while promising to start bringing positive results for the country.

The game ended 1-1 and was played in a very entertaining atmosphere as Gambian fans cheered the team from start to end. Striker Assan Ceesay converted a penalty to give the Scorpions the lead in the 58th minute but the Wild Beasts’ Kethevdama Foxi netted the equaliser in the 75th minute.

Assan Ceesay said he was thrilled for scoring in his senior debut for the team but appealed to the fans to continue supporting them in their quest to get where they want to be. “These are the kind of support we are expecting from the fans. With hard work, opportunity and fans support, we would always continue to score for the senior national team.”

Pa Modou Jagne, the team captain also thanked Gambians for coming out in numbers to support them, adding that this is what they always like to be see whenever they are playing at home.

As the team leader, Jagne promised the fans that they will work together with the rest of the players in bringing positive results for the country, while urging the fans to continue their patience.

 Simon Richter also thanked Gambians fans for their support, noting that it is very good for one to come and play for his country especially when all the fans are behind the team.
