Scorpions’ defender loaned to Turkish club

Gambia’s senior national team defender Bubacarr Sanneh alias ‘Timber’ has been sent on one-year-loan deal with the Turkish Super Lig outfit Gotzepe.

The center-back was forced out on loan by the Anderlecht’s new Coach Vincent Kompany. The 24-year-old, who was Anderlecht’s most expensive signing after, moved from Danish Champions FC Midtjylland. He was playing second fiddle to Senegalese Kara Mbogji, who three months ago joined Qatari club, Al Sailiya.

The Bundung-born player, who signed for Anderlecht in 2018 for £9 million was believing that Kara Mboji’s departure will pave the way for him but with the coming of former Man City Captain Kompany, all hope was dashed away.

The former AC Horsens defender, who has a contract with Anderlecht until the summer of 2023, has had limited playing time in Anderlecht FC last season after playing three matches for the Brussels club in 2019.

The Turkish club, Göztepe, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, has negotiated a $ 6 million option in making the deal permanent after next season.
