senior national team; Scorpions have defeated the Syli Nationale of Guinea
Conakry 1-0 in an international friendly game played in the Moroccan city of
Marrakech, on Wednesday.
The Scorpions midfield genius Ebrima Sohna scored the only goal in the match in the first half of the game, just in the first twenty minutes when he was introduced in the game, replacing Sal Jobarteh.
The Sylli Nationale used the game as part of their preparation for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Egypt, after gaining qualification for the tournament, while the Scorpions failed to qualify after occupying 3rd position in group D.
Scorpions coach Tom Saintfiet has beaten the Guinean team despite several of the country’s players turning down the invitations to the encounter.
Speaking to sports journalist Buba Jallow (Fallaboweh), Ebrima Sohna, who many complained about his inclusion in the team despite not playing for any team, said he is not in the national team to compete with any player, nor is he there to fight for position. “If they have the players that can do the job, I will support the team. So, it’s not that I am hungry to fight for a place and all that,” he said.
According to him, Gambia is in his heart and his inclusion in the team has nothing to do with him not having club at the moment.
The Scorpions will on Wednesday play Morocco in their second international friendly to be played in the city of Marrakech.
