national senior team (Scorpions) players have thanked their fans for the
support in their Saturday 1-1 draw against heavyweight Deserve Foxes of Algeria
at the Independent Stadium in Bakau.
During a Monday press conference called by The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), the team captain Pa Modou Jagne, who played Switzerland side FC Zurich expressed delight about how Gambians felt after their draw with Algeria at home especially the fans.
He said they as players were so motivated by the fans during the game to fight for victory, noting that they came with a game plan in which they ended up executing as they share the point with the heavyweight Desert foxes.
The former FC Sion player noted that every footballer wants to be playing in such a crowd that came out in their game against Algeria on Saturday.
Lamin Jallow, the Serie B US Salernitana player, who is on loan from Chievo Verona also thanked the Gambian fans for coming with that magnitude of a crowd to support them in their second AFCON qualifiers against Algeria.
The former Cesena attacker said that the last game he watched Gambian playing was in 2008, in which The Gambia won 2-1, with his brother Assan Jatta scoring, noting that he was a fan then and now playing against Algeria is a dream come true for him.
Ebrima Sohna, one of Gambia’s most experienced players who played for Azerbaijani club Kesla FK also thanked Gambian fans for coming in their large numbers to support them in their game against Algeria, noting that crowd really move and motivated them as players which make them to fight more than lions during the game
