Midfielder Yankuba Sanyang’s 74th minute strike inspired Tujereng to a 1-0 win over Banyaka in the opening game of the 2015 Kombo South district football tournament played at the Tujereng Football Field on Saturday.

Tujereng came into the game for revenge after losing to Banyaka on penalties, following a goalless draw in the regulation time in the semi-final of the 2013 Kombo South district football tournament.

They dominated Banyaka in the game and created some goal-scoring opportunities but squandered them all.

Banyaka, on the other hand, created few goal-scoring opportunities but also failed to capitalize on their chances thus the first half ended blank.

Upon resumption of the game, both sides injected fresh legs to boost their striking force in order to fancy their hopes on clinching the vital three points.

The hosts Tujereng were however the lucky side to bag the three points after substitute Yankuba Sanyang opened the scores in the 74th minute of the game to give his side the lead, which eventually proved to be the win for Tujereng as well as their first win in the Kombo South district football tournament.

The visitors Banyaka responded back for an equalizer but to no avail thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Tujereng.

Tujereng are leading their group with maximum 3 points in one game following their 1-0 slender win over Banyaka in the opening game, while Banyaka are languishing at the bottom in their group with zero point in one outing after their 1-0 defeat to Tujereng in the opening game.
