Sanyang discusses five-year development plan

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

The Kombo South coastal community of Sanyang over the weekend discussed their five years development plan at the community’s Lower Basic School ground.

Some of the development areas targeted in the next five years includes education, health, agriculture, environment, tourism, sports, community utilities such as electricity expansion, water supply and a radio station.

Village development committee chairman Lamin Bojang emphasized that there is a need for the community to prepare a development plan that they can rely on as a guideline for  development in the coming years even after the tenure of his committee.

He said this is the first time the community had a formal and well finalised development plan document. “We have been facing difficulties in identifying and prioritising our development targets. This is because we lacked a well-designed development structured document for the community. This plan will create an avenue to have a clear direction for that progress,” he said.

Lamin Jabang, a social worker and representative of the village Alkalo said they will later come together to look into key required areas of the development plan document for implementation.
