Young people of North Bank Region’s Central
Baddibou village of Salikenni last Sunday embarked a road rehabilitation
exercise that links the village to their rice fields.
Sitokoto Gassama, the newly elected
councilor of Salikenni Ward said the exercise was meant to provide farmers easy
access to their farms, especially during rainy season.
Mr.Gassama explained that women usually
face extreme difficulty to access their rice fields during raining season but
said the rehabilitation of the access road will help address those problems.
Nyira Kanyi also said women of the village
faces lot of challenges during rainy season in trying to avoid the invasion of
salt water into their rice fields.
Sulayman Saho, National Assembly Member for
Badibou Central said government alone cannot do everything for the people,
while appealing to people to work towards the development of their communities
for the betterment of the country.
Sanna Kanteh, Village Development Committee
(VDC) chairperson called on development partners to come to their aideto
complete the work before start of the rainy season.
