Salam Association inaugurated

Salam Association Gambia branch was on Friday inaugurated at a ceremony held at their office in Brusibi.

The official inauguration was attended by senior government officials as well as communities of Brusibi and Sukuta.

Speaking in an interview with this reporter at the inauguration, Maddalena Galeane, Project Coordinator of Salam Association, said the association was formed in Italy on 25 April 2010 to help African countries.

She in 2013 they started working with Immigrant sectors to welcome refugees in their country.

She said from that day the foundation hasset up ten camps and more than 400 people in those camps all are refugees.

According to her, those refugees started to talk about the problems of their countries and this was where the Salam Association stepped in and decided to come to Africa including The Gambia.

Salam Project coordinators said the aim of the foundation is to make sure that they help the people of the country to stay and work instead of going to Europe through the back way.
