Saint Francis Lower Basic, Upper and Senior Secondary school and ten other Upper and Nursery schools within the Banyanka cluster catchment area have celebrated Gambia’s 54th independence anniversary at Kunkujang Mariama in Kombo south, under the theme: Discipline is vital for success of a student in school.

Chairman of Saint Francis board of directors and representative of the Guest speaker Momodou MK. Touray told students that, the day does not only serve as remembering the day Gambia got her self-attainment but should also remind them of  keeping the independence alive and progressive, through determination and self-discipline.

He said for a nation to boost in the attainment of her full independence, citizens must build the zeal to acquire economical skills and be discipline in whatever development effort they might be in for self-realization. “This is to remind you, as students that for you to realize your future ambitions and succeed in your careers, you have to be well discipline and be committed to your studies,” he said

Head Boy of the school, Patrick Mendy urged his fellow students to be steadfast with their books and to maintain discipline for the success of their educational ambitions which, he said will no doubt create a better environment for their progress. “As students who are looking for a better future and participate in the advancement of our national economy, you must acquire self-discipline and respect for teachers in school,’’ he stated.
