technical upper basic and senior secondary school in Brikama, Friday received a
boost of sixty-five computers, printers and books from Anna Karwana, through
her Malta charity call Mission Gambia Malta.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony at the school premises, chairman of the school’s board of governors, Fabakary Fadera said the donated materials will enhance teaching in the school particularly on computer knowledge. “This school has become one of the best result producing schools in West Coast Region,” he said.
SaamaKairo Federation manager Edrisa Cham thanked the donor for the gesture, saying there is not gift worthy than education. He challenged the management and students of the school to ensure making the best use of the donated materials.
ChildFund The Gambia country director Musukuta Komma commended the donor for the gesture and reminded students that, provided that they build on their strengths, the future is bright for them. “Your parents toil every day and night just to ensure that you are educated. Try to stay out of trouble and follow the best advice of your parents,” she said.
She appealed to parents to trust their children and to allow them to attain their education to the brim.
Principal Musa Baldeh said the school was poorly equipped with ICT equipment but said the gesture will help improve both student and teaching staff performance in the use of computer. “Here, we give research work to students on project topics and these computers will help in facilitating students’ online research.”
