The Gambia affiliated Federations; Saama Kairo in Kombo East and Central and
Dinding Yiriwa in Kombo North and South, Friday concluded a three days-training
of twenty-farmers on poultry keeping and management at the Saama Kairo
Federation office in Brikama.
The training aimed to build capacity of participants on poultry keeping and management, targeting to increase and improve the wellbeing of the two federations’ sponsored children.
“Poverty is something that everyone is crying of and it is important to build capacities on how to fight poverty and increase your income,” Saama Kairo Federation manager Edrisa Cham told the participants at the end of the training on Friday.
He told them that they will be provided with a starting capital to venture into poultry business, reminding them that if they are able to manage the opportunity, it will enable the federations to help other people.
West Coast Regional livestock director Bakary Jammeh said poultry farming is fast growing and the demand for animal product is growing by the day. “We have shown you the ways to invest and increase your income. We have also shown you how to add value to your products. So do it to help yourselves and others.”
One of the participants Jainaba Colley thanked the two federations for training them, saying they will ensure that they practice what they learn by seriously engaging into business.
