Malick Lowe, United Democratic Party (UDP) Banjul female Mayoral candidate
for the April local government elections has donated cash amount of 150, 000
dalasi to The Gambia Organisation of the Visually Impaired (GOVI) held at the
GOVI office in Kanifing.
According to GOVI officials, they made the request from Ms. Malick to support them to organise a national general conference which is held every four years.
Gaira Lamin, GOVI’s national treasurer thanked Ms. Malick for the gesture, saying the entire people of GOVI are grateful to her.
She appealed to individuals and philanthropic organisations to help the visually impaired people, noting that only Allah will reward a person who helps an impaired person. She prayed for Ms. Malick’s victory in the upcoming local government election and assured her that the amount donated will be put in good use.
Njaga Jammeh, councilor of Jollof Town ward said Ms. Malick did not provide the support to popularise her political ambitions but her love to help people in need. “She is born and brought up in Banjul. This is not the first time she is providing suck kind of gesture.”
Rohey Malick Lowe said, “I am not doing this for politics. My aim is to help the poor and needy and to empower women and girls as feature leaders,” she stated.
