One Essa Kanteh was on 12th January 2009 arraigned before Magistrate Sagarr Jahateh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with robbery, a charge he denied.

According to the charge sheet, on or about the 18th December 2008 at Old Jeshwang the accused Essa Kanteh robbed one Zamuary Asso of his mobile phone mark nokia valued at D1500, a walkman valued at D200, a black cap valued at D150 and cash of D250, all being the property of one Zamuary Asso.

Prosecutor Inspector Mariama Fatty opposed bail because, according to her the accused had a pending case.

However, Magistrate Jahateh granted the accused bail in the sum of D50, 000 with a Gambian surety who should depose an affidavit of means and an ID card.

The case was adjourned to 22nd January 2009, for commencement of trial.
